The chapel and mausoleums and buildings have been restored. Thank you to everyone for your cooperation during the work time. We hope you enjoy and appreciate the splendor of these historic buildings.
The chapel is freshly painted, the floors professionally polished and we have provided newly restored and designed pews. There is new landscaping and new benches.
The mausoleum is Ivy Lawn’s most predominant piece of historically significant architecture. It was designed Mid Century Modern by Albert C. Martin & Associates. The mosaic was created by Igor de Kansky in 1963 and it represents the transition from life to eternity. Mr. de Kansky is listed under the Who’s Who in American Art as a painter and sculptor and specialized in abstract expressionism. The Ivy Lawn mosaic commission is one of the earliest works and represents the cultural expression of that time period that is today called Mid Century Modern in art and architecture.
Ivy Lawn is celebrating 100 years of service! For more information on the history and importance of this cemetery please stay tuned for the release of our book on the history of Ivy Lawn which will be out soon.Back to all articles
